. that is a meteor burning its way across the skies over russia that you're looking at. it wasn't just something to see. there was sound and fury and a lot of people hurt. here's the story from jim. >> the images look like something out of a movie. a tiny asteroid tearing through space at a speed of 33,000 miles per hour. before streaking across southern russia. cameras caught sight of the white trail as it headed across the sky. and then this. an explosion of light, then a massive sonic boom. strong enough to shatter windows and damage buildings. there were reports of more than 1,000 people injured. mostly from glass and debris. this video shows a children's judo class. windows blew out here and in buildings around the region. some people said they thought it might have been a plane crash. this is the aftermath of the blast in a high school. a 17-year-old student put this video on youtube, showing the reaction in his physics class. students screamed and ran into the hallways. he said some in the class thought war had started. some of the incredible images were caught on cameras placed inside ru

next year in russia, to medal. john meyer, i want to bring you in, as a collaborator with lindsay on her blog, i assume you are close to her and her people, not to suggest you have had an opportunity this soon to talk to anybody whose connected to her, but do you know anything more about how bad this injury is and what this means for this season, and maybe more importantly next season, olympic season. >> well, this is speculation, obviously. but it looked as your earlier contributor said, it looked like the knee buckled. and she has a severe knee injury. so that would take her out of the rest of the world cup season. and obviously the world championships. i want to make it clear world champion ships happen every two years. so it's a major event as opposed to world cup which is a seasonal event, if you will. so basically, she will go have her knee reconstruction, and then she will have to go through a very difficult rehab, and the clock starts ticking right now for her bid to defend her gold medal in the downhill at the olympics. now, that's not to say she can't do it. if you remem

.s. and russia have a plan. and they're going to present it to the iranians in talks next tuesday. the goal is to offer serious economic incentives in exchange for iran's shutting down uranium enrichment facility and surrendering the stockpile of urani uranium. we have details of this new proposal. what's new about it? i know last year they tried to do this and they didn't go for it. what's new here? >> that's right. it's been about a year since the u.s. and the partners sat down with iran over the nuclear program. they've been making a good deal of progress on the developments since that time. so they're sweetening the pot, so to speak, and asking more of ire ran in return whether they sit down next week in kazakhstan. in exchange for easing the ban on the trade of gold and precious metals to iran and some nuclear fuel for peaceful purposes, iran must close its enrichment facility at a plant that is underground. the longer iran keeps this underground facility open and becomes more difficult to stop them militarily from having the uranium needed for a nuclear weapon. they want them to ship

didn't solve the middle east. look at russia, going down the tubes fast. look at the arab spring countries, in complete turmoil. and also china. not particularly good. you can go down the list and on some of the hard issues, those really traditional foreign policy international policy issues. some critics would say she didn't accomplish much of anything and she leaves john kerry a pretty fragile world. other people would say, no, she actually injected into the conversation, changed the conversation about international policy. what she talked about and what she followed through on were the issues of women's development, economic development, children, family and increasing the conversation as she would put it with people around the world, not just talking to governments, but beginning this two-way conversation with people all over the world. so that debate is going to go on for a long time. >> we're watching secretary of state hillary clinton say farewell to some of the 69,000 state department employees. john king and gloria borger are here in the studio with me. she has now a rec

that's a big deal, because this is a preolympic year. there will be olympics next year in russia. >> she is so unbelievably good. >> sorry? >> she's so unbelievably talented. >> yes. and the other point that needs made is this was a very, very difficult season for her. she won her fourth world cup overall title last year, just ran away with it, almost broke the world cup record for points in a season, was the most dominant racer on the women's world cup. this year she expected to have a season like that but she got food poisoning early in this season. she missed a couple weeks of training. she tried to come back, won a couple of races, but found that her strengths and her energy was totally depleted, because of this illness, they put her in the hospital for a couple days. she took three weeks off from the world cup to go back into training and get her strength back. she basically wrote off the possibility of winning the world cup overall this year because of the way she was racing and because of the races she missed, but was hoping to sort of save her season with a big performanc
